Happy July, friends! We are now in the midst of summer. For those of you who love the beach (who doesn’t?) and are planning a wedding in a more tropical locale that here in Nashville, consider this your Monday inspiration. While our heat is certainly tropical, we don’t have the refreshing beauty of an ocean to cool off in or to enjoy the gorgeous sunset at.

When I met Hannah and her parents at their design consultation, we established a color palette of light sea blues paired with sun-drenched sunset colors that reflected a watercolor effect as well. Hannah’s sweet dad mentioned the arch they were getting married under and then we all came up with the watercolor illustration of Hannah & Donald on the beach at sunset under their arch. The design was paired with a beautiful sea blue lacy laser cut pocket to hold their response card and envelope. I mixed a custom color for their envelope calligraphy to match the blue and the invitation suite was complete!

Hannah was such a joy to work with and I loved seeing how her invitation suite set the tone for the wedding day.

ABOUT Hannah & Donald

How did you and your husband meet? We met our freshman year of high school! I had a huge crush on him right away and we have been together since!

What was your vision for your wedding day?

I really wanted a relaxed and casual wedding day at my favorite spot in the world- the beach! I always wanted to get married barefoot and to have as little stress as possible!

How did Fanciful Ink create invitations expressing that vision for you?

Laurie drew an absolutely perfect representation of Donnie and I and the exact setting we wanted on the beach! She got every detail right- even the lace on my dress! People immediately commented on how much the drawing of Donnie looked like him. It was unreal! The invitations were so beautiful and guests at our wedding are still talking about them!

Was there anything special you incorporated in your wedding?

We wanted to really dive into the beach theme so we did a sand unity ceremony and the product is now a beautiful display in our home together.

What was your best planning tool?

I used the Knot for researching and the Zola App for making the guest list and for timeline information.

What advice would you give other brides?

Do not expect everything to be perfect. Little imperfections are absolutely going to happen- and many of them are the things you will remember most and laugh about down the line! Just focus on the reason you’re getting married and the person you’re marrying and your imperfect day will be perfect to you both!
